Guide to family vacations in Puerto Rico

Vacation time is here again! Whether its annual or bi-annual, everyone loves a holiday. There are so many holiday package deals and now the big question is which one of them offers the best family deal? Increasingly, Puerto Rico is becoming a destination of choice. Of course with a marvelous tropical climate that should be expected, not to mention the growth in appreciation for its history, culture, arts and tradition.

The transportation makes it easy to visit attractions in various towns. There are car rental services and public transportation via the trolley' service and charter buses, especially for tourists.

The beaches are absolutely wonderful. These are family-friendly, with amenities, restaurants and parking. Luquillo is among the most popular, with bathroom, shower, parking facilities and a line of restaurants on the beach. Water sports are fun on most beaches like Seven Seas, Luquillo, Flamenco, and Montserrat beaches where snorkeling, swimming, surfing, fishing, beach combing and beach volley ball are completely fun. Isla Verde beach has facilities for picnics. So have a relaxing time in between activities and chill out with beloved ones. Mosquito Bay is excellent and would leave children fascinated for a very long time, with its famous bioluminescent characteristic. The Shiraz Charters organize tours including fishing trips and other adventures that are friendly for children and adults alike. Relax and soak in all the warmth of the sun!

Horse back riding is fun at the Hacienda Carabali. It is an adventure suitable for various age groups.

MONUMENTS

1) Christopher Columbus Statue erected in honour of the great explorer and navigator.

2) Monumento al Cacique Luquillo which is a monument to the local hero Taino Chief Luquillo.

3) "Jess T. Piero Monument erected in memory of the first native Puerto Rican to be
governor of Pueto Rico, Jesus T Pinero. It is one of the historical elements in Carolin,
Puerto Rico.

WILD LIFE TOURS, NATURAL RESERVES, CAMPING SITES

Natural Forestry Tours are great for adults and children. Some great places are:

1)Refugio de Vida Silvestre de Humacao is a natural reserve with camp sites, playgrounds and
an information centre

2)El Yunque National Forest: Organised tours make the trips absolutely phenomenal. Imagine
abseiling or ziplining across the forest not to mention kayaking! Teenagers love such
escapades.

3)Pinones Forest:major woodland with hiking and biking paths, road-side shelters where dream
food' can be bought. It is home to Pinones
