Why I use WinRAR

The biggest question I ask myself is why I didn't use WinRAR sooner. It's much easier to use than other compression software and works much better. Needless to say, it definitely made transporting and emailing my college classwork much simpler.

~The Discovery

I discovered WinRAR five years ago in college. I needed to compress some rather large photos to send to another student. I tried using WinZip, but the compression took forever and the file was still far too large to send. I remembered WinRAR being mentioned by one of my teachers and decided to give it a try. Now I'm the one recommending it to everyone.

~Music and Photos

I was able to quickly and easily compress the photos to a manageable size. I deal with photos and music regularly. I like to write my own music and share with friends and family. However, attaching or uploading image and music files can take forever and takes the recipient a while to download. By compressing them with WinRAR, the files are small enough to send, but without sacrificing the quality.

~Simple to Use

The WinRAR interface is extremely simple to use. Every file type I would ever use is supported. I do not have to worry about whether or not I can actually compress a certain file. With a few clicks, my files are ready to go.

~Backups

One of my favorite uses for WinRAR is backups. I can compress my files for archiving purposes. This allows me to store more on my external drive. Any large files I rarely use, I compress as well to save space on my internal hard drive. After all, saving space is important.

~Cost

With WinZip you pay for the next upgrade or version. I rarely upgraded because of the cost. It was expensive, but you still shouldn't have to pay for simple upgrades, especially when WinRAR is available. I was delighted to find that WinRAR offers free upgrades for life.

~Multiple OS Support

I use Windows most of the time, but I also like to use Linux. Many applications only support one or the other. WinRAR supports most operating systems, including Macs. I know that no matter what operating system I may choose in the future, WinRAR is still going to be there. Being able to keep the same application through years of upgrades and changes is always a plus for me.

WinRAR is reliable and has never let me down. I am always impressed with the results. After searching for years for a perfect solution, WinRAR has become my favorite and the only compression software I'll ever use.
