Poetry: What could have been

by L. J. Stroud

Created on: January 25, 2008   Last Updated: January 26, 2008

I mourn-for what could have been, but never shall be.
I mourn-for what the careless voices have stilled forever.
I mourn-for what might have been, but was crushed by life.
I mourn-for what was, and could have become, but was stilled.
I mourn-for what should have been, and did not happen.
I mourn-for what has become, and what is yet to be.
