Our society is obsessed with celebrities. We are more concerned with Paris Hilton's next self-exalted vain ventures, Britney Spears's next wild escapade Lindsay Lohan's next rehabilitation location. Where is Jessica Simpson originally from? Texas, most of us know. Where has Madonna relocated to? London, we have all heard it.Subjects we should be concerned with like, where did our presidential candidate, Barrack Obama hail from? Hawaii, we should know. Most importantly, how may books in the Holy Bible? 66. The Holy Bible remains to be and will always be the number one best seller of all times, we should be familiar with its content.

I do find it interesting that the network responsible for the ever popular reality show, "The Flava of Love", is called Mindless Network, cleaver don't you agree? I do have to confess, I absolutely LOVE reality shows, it is the next big craze in Hollywood, seems like all the big heavy hitters of Hollywood are jumping on board. Tyra Banks, "America's Next Top Model", Bret Michael's "Rock of Love","Dancing with the Stars", the ever popular,"Surreal Life", on and on. These reality shows do provide a forum for undiscovered actors and actresses that may not otherwise be able to break into the monopolized Hollywood industry.

I believe the reason we are so mesmerized with these celebrity lies and lives, is because we the public, secretly love to see that the rich and famous have as much, if not more, drama in their extravagant lives, than us normal folk. I believe that this secret sin: satisfaction in the downfall of the famous is a big contributor to the reality show success and popularity.

The industry of the paparazzi has been able to figure out these odds and equations and have been able to capitalize immensely on this embarrassing general public desire. Although paparazzi budgets are not publicized and range can vary, many do earn six figure wages, all based on our lust for dysfunction and mayhem.

Celebrities also make hefty royalties and gain extensive exposure behind our carnivorous thirst for their chaotic and ridiculous choices and mistakes. This type of instant, disturbing, global exposure has allowed these once hard working entertainers, to become complacent and lazy in their craft.
