The Globe.
I'm bundled under the blankets,
Pillows cushioning my thoughts,
On a cool evening in July.
Summer should have adorned the Welsh coast by now,
But it's late this year,
Making the warm, cotton layers even more of a comfort,
A cocoon from which to dream and plan,
Encouraging thoughts of warmer lands.
The miniature globe, a gift, is perched on my lap,
Whirling on its plastic axis.
This orb of land and sea, of sand and rock
In my hands,
Spinning as my finger pushes it into another swirl,
Landing serendipitously
And inviting me somewhere new.
The whole world sits so small in my hands
Yet, so powerful,
Filled with potential and promise.
Inspiring.
The whole world, so small in my hands,
So big in m mind, in my heart.
