Great Wii games for kids

Though not having the graphical prowess of other game consoles, the Wii incorporates revolutionary controller design and motion sensing game play capabilities. Any game that capitalizes on these will definitely have an edge on the others. Among the games that do so, here are 3 that will make great games for kids.

1. Wii Sports.

If you want to make sure your child does not become a couch potato gamer, this game will interest you. Actually it includes several games under one title. Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Boxing and Bowling, as well as a fitness test and training mode. Having been touted by Weight Watchers for some time now as a way to increase your physical activity, this game will get the kids up and moving.

While the Bowling and Golf swing do not require much effort, a few tennis matches or baseball innings will have you working up a sweat. Then there is Boxing, by far the most vigorous of the sports. It might have you wondering if you can make it through all the rounds. Take the fitness test to find out your fitness age. You might be surprised at how out of shape you are.

The games aren't technically accurate or realistic, but they do have a quality that many games just do not have anymore. They are just plain fun for everyone from the youngest to the oldest family member. My wife and I got this game as part of the package when we purchased our Wii console and have enjoyed it very much. When company comes, grandchildren as well as grandparents all want to have their turns. ESRB rated Kids to Adults.

2. Endless Ocean

Endless Ocean for the Wii is somewhat of a a different breed of game. It is a scuba diving simulation. And for those looking for a nonviolent educational game that promises to be interesting as well, this will be a good choice.

In the game you are a scuba diver working for the Manoa Lai Oceanic Research Society in the Pelago Commonwealth. You start on a boat named Gabbiano which also serves as your base. Your goal in the game is to explore the ocean and catalog the life you find. You will be able to cultivate friendships with such creatures as dolphins and penguins.

During your sojourns you collect items and bring them back to your locker on the boat. The boat can be moved to different diving spots on the map, and from the back of the boat you can train the aquatic friends you've made. Underwater graphics are very appealing, with detailed ocean environments and sea life as well as superb lighting effects and rich color.
