Poetry: Returning to God

Returning to God
In the city I was born

I tried
The material game

It hit me
The day I fell ill

It forgot my friendship
It forgot my family
It forgot my loyalty
It forgot my hurting feelings

Yet my Lord
Poured out
Of my soul

As my true savior

Caring
That I was worth
Much more to him

In His free duty
As a human being
Towards the doors
Of faith

My mum used to
Walk me to

Serving the congregation
In the style of
The free soul

    Reborn

This world wants cookie-cutters of perfection.
