Great weather, incredible seaside views, and gorgeous beaches all in one town. That sums up Luquillo in a nutshell. This attractive paradise has been a magnet for beach lovers because it is simply the finest place to enjoy all the pleasures of basking in the sun, having water sporting fun, beach combing, hiking, sand castle building, fishing, treasure hunting, and lots more. It is a case of how far one's imagination can roam.
The best beaches are Luquillo beach, Monserrat, Las Pailas, La Bandera, La Pared and Mameyes Beach. Luquillo beach is lined with coconut trees for miles and is frequented very often. Monserrat is as attractive and has plenty people trooping down especially in the summer months. These public beaches have bathrooms and showers to use after a delightful time. With facilities for people with special needs, it caters for most rather than some. These beaches are the ultimate fantasy for the beach lover. There are cafeterias and places to have picnics so that the best of both worlds are available. There are parking facilities and some tend to have more than others.
Luquillo is fantastic for group vacations including families with children. Hacienda Carabali is an adventure suitable for various age groups. Mounted on a pretty Paso Fino horse, the tour involves riding to the foothills of El Yunque the National Forest. It lasts for up to two hours and at the end of the scenic experience, there is the chance to take a swim in the river. This is a fabulous trip and it only has just begun.
El Yunque National Forest is the largest publically owned land mass and indeed it is enormous. There are film exhibitions and information for every explorer. There are over 240 species of trees, rare kinds of wildlife, various bird species, waterfalls and much more. Organised tours make the trips absolutely phenomenal. Imagine abseiling or ziplining across the forest not to mention kayaking!
Entertainment and nightlife in Luquillo are inevitable. It has exciting festivals which give tourists a thrill and delight. These include:
1) Patron Saint Celebrations in March
2) The Coconut Festivals held in September. The name says it all.
3) Typical Dish Festival in December a true taster into this tropical heaven.
Restaurants are spread around Luquillo and they serve lovely cuisines. The beaches have affordable eateries which serve superb delicacies. Luquillo Beach has a long stretch of these canteens and a wide variety to spice up the enjoyment!
The best places to stay in Luquillo are:
1)Coqui Villa, a 2 bedroom villa with swimming pool
2)Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn with Restaurant, special needs accessible.
3)Playa Azul Apartment Rental with swimming pool, tennis court, special needs accessible.
These accept major credit cards and are near the beaches.
Find out more about the local hero in Luquillo by visiting the Monumento al Cacique Luquillo which is a monument to the Taino Chief Luquillo.
This town is very close to Luiz Munoz Marin International Airport. There are shuttle services, car rentals and public transportation which heighten the holiday excitement.
Plaza de Oriente Shopping Center is filled with numerous shops to meet the demands of locals and tourists alike.

destination for tourists.
