Wow! If that isn't a load question, I don't know what is. I guess one big question to help answer that would be "of what age group?" Let's break it down into age groups and answer it individually that may help the answer here.
Ages 16-20:
Guys feeling the power of the engine and need for speed, they slide behind the wheel and set off with more then just the purpose of getting from point A to point B they want to get there the fastest. OBJECTIVE: Get there ten minutes, twenty minutes, quicker then their buddies. Hmmm
Girls add their personal touches through out the car. The scrunches on the gear shifter (within easy reach), sunglasses in the cubby hole, and all the pretty dangly things on the rearview mirror, blocking their view of the road. Objective: Get to point A to point B while attracting the most attention. Hmmm..
Ages 20-30:
Guys now have experience behind their driving, instead of letting off the gas pedal they're pressing it harder, confident they can "handle anything that comes their way". There in a rush because they wanted those twenty extra minutes of sleep before rushing to school or work. Objective: Get there YESTERDAY! Hmmm.
Girls now have the experience behind talking on the cell phone while driving, and with no harping parental figure cautioning them every five minutes. If they don't have that phone pressed to their ear how can they tell their girlfriends about what the woman in the car next to them actually walked out of her house wearing? Objective: Stay up-to-date on all the gossip while doing something as mundane as driving. Hmmm.
Ages 30-40
Men have branched off into two categories at this stage. They are either still hell on wheels, racing all over the roadways or are so concerned with the growing gas prices most of them will give the elderly a run for the money so to speak. Objective: Either save gas or haul ass. Hmmm
Women have laid the cell phones down (for the most part), gotten dressed before leaving the house, and have one objective for getting behind the wheel of the car. Objective: Get done what needs to be done and get home. Hmmm.
And, since from this age on it's a slow downhill slope to eternally slow driving, I'll leave the decision up to you. I think that each person is an individual, and there are certainly men and women who don't fit into any of my stereotypes. But, on the majority, that's the break down of it. So, who is the better driver? Men or women? Keep this in mind, when going on a family vacation, who usually does the driving? The man, or the woman? Hmmm....
