Here's to good health, happiness and safety, mixed with small blessings and love; together these things become The Andy Griffith Show! A treasure which no one should have missed growing up, or if they did, re-runs will complete your life. It is a special place where you should visit and you will never want to leave.
Ode to The Andy Griffith Show! The perfect way of living, if only life could be that way. Such a time of simple ways. For example being naive and enjoying things like throwing the ball in the air all by himself, to catch it again with a well, old worn out baseball glove. No television in the house, running all day, because no one had the time to watch it during the daytime hours.
Andy could take care of any problem which came along and usually, 99% of the time, with no gun. He always had his trusty side kick Barney to help, as long as Barney carried his one bullet, for emergencies.
A time when little boys wore short hair and striped pull on shirts and said, "Yes, Sir," and "No, Mam," and they meant it, a time of respect. If they had anything, it was respect for all who was older than themselves. That was the way they were brought up. Little girls wore pig tails, braided with their best dresses and boys were too afraid to speak to them. The pig tails would be pulled, just because the boys liked them.
There was a town of citizens who cared for one other, who gossiped among themselves and who loved enough to help all those they knew in trouble. A neighbor could be ill, but one could count on Aunt Bea to bring over a hot cup of soup, after the doctor made his house calls. But somehow, the hot cup of soup along Aunt Bea's company, was the thing which pulled the person through.
There would be complaints of the oldest, ugliest house in town, by the town's beautification committee. The result, would be the whole town chipping in to revise, to help out a poor old soul who could not afford the repairs. A town forever thinking of their neighbors in need.
Meanwhile, through all this Opie Taylor could freely run around the town to see his Pa and anything else he would like, as long as he was home for a meal. It was a time of safety for children, since children were expected out of the house, in the sunshine all day, no worries for the children and they would show up, just in time to eat their meals, which were cooked with care, all day long.
