Mending a broken heart can be a bit troublesome, especially if it was your first true love and your first true heart break. One thing to remember is that time heals all wounds. You should never dwell on what could have been. Because the truth is if the heart break hadn't happened now, it could have later, but with something much worse. Typically if relationships don't start out good, they don't last very long. So don't think that it was something that you did wrong, and never blame yourself. It wasn't your fault, it just wasn't meant to be.
The first initial days after the break up are without a doubt the hardest, but soon the pain will slowly end. The first few days after the break up you may feel alone, depressed, you may even have problems eating or sleeping, But the thing to remember is that everything happens for a reason. So don't beat yourself up.
Now is the time focus on what YOU want and what YOU need out of life. Don't stay in the house crying over old photos. Put them in an album where you can always cherish them then go out and have some fun. If you aren't ready to go out on the town then atleast go for a walk in your neighborhood. Do all the things you've always wanted to do, but couldn't because the relationship took up the remainder of your time. Remember that gym you've always wanted to join? GO JOIN IT. Remeber that shoe sale at your favorite store.. Get your credit card ready. Now you have no one to hold you back from what you've always wanted to do. Don't keep bad memories running through your head, because that is nothing but emotional baggage that you just don't need.
Becuase when the time comes when you are ready to meet the next Mr./ Mrs. wonderful a person with alot of emotional baggage usually will scare any potential mates off. Just remember to have fun. And remember all of the good times. Pain is temporary. Good things will come.
Oh and if you happen to see your ex just a little bit after the breakup, remain calm and mature, and if he or she has someone with them, don't jump on their case, because it will just make you seem childish. Say hello respectfully and go on with your day. It will make you look more mature and you'll feel better about yourself. It will also make your ex see that you are a human being and you do want to remain friends. It may lead to a healthy relationship you never know... One day they may even cross your path again.
So just remember the first few days are the hardest, so cry it out if you want to. There is no shame in that, but remember to get out of the house and smell the fresh air it will do wonders for you. Then go and do anything you've ever wanted to do. It will make you feel more accomplished.
Good luck
