Going to a baby shower means giving the expectant mommy-to-be gifts. The gifts are for the new one who is soon to arrive. Of course, the focus is bringing gifts for the baby, which is the reason for the baby shower in the first place. However, remember the new mommy has plenty of hard work ahead of her and it would be a very nice gesture to remember the mommy-to-be too.
It is simple really, thinking of the mother. She would appreciate the small gesture of bubble bath, bath salts, or lotions. It would be nice to dress it up by putting these items by placing them in a basket. A kind thought for once the newborn finally arrives; mom will have very little time to enjoy much, so this small gift will be appreciated. Putting a gift certificate to a grocery store would also be a nice gesture. If the new mom does not intend on breast feeding the gift certificate will come in handy when it comes to buying the formula the newborn will need.
These days' expectant parents normally know the sex of the child, so if a male child is what is on the way, everything baby blue is nice to use as the theme of your gift. It is rare today to receive anything handmade, though a handmade afghan made of different shades of blue is a nice beginning to your gift giving if you are able to crochet. If you cannot crochet, buy a blue themed quilt, afghan, or blanket for the newborn. Use the afghan or quilt as your wrapping and fill the afghan with blue booties, a pants outfit, pajamas, and a little cap also find lotions, baby shampoo, baby soap and other things that will come in handy for taking care of the newborn needs. Clothes for a boy are harder to come by than they are for a girl, clothes for a newborn are always welcome.
Now for a newborn girl, again a homemade afghan would be nice, though again if you are not able to crochet, buy a pink themed afghan, quilt, or blanket. Baskets are very nice to present a gift so start building your basket with the afghan, blanket, or quilt you have chosen. Once you have lined the basket, fill it with lotion, baby shampoo, baby soap, a pink dress, pajamas, and other small things that will come in useful for the care of the baby girl who is soon to arrive.
For both the girl and boy newborn a package or two of diapers would be nice to include, newborns go through so many diapers. Combined with the gift certificate placed in the new mommy's gift basket this will help the new parents financially. The gifts suggested are practical, useful, and needed. Dressing them up will be fun for the person who is giving the gifts, and the different approach will make a good impression on the new mommy to be, and others attending the baby shower.
Many may suggest giving strollers, car seats and other expensive items, and that is great idea. However, so many live on a budget that will not allow such expensive gifts. In addition, these types of gifts are personal and the parents know best what they are looking for in these types of items.
