Games can be addicting, but this game takes the cake. I tried the free 60 minute trial and ran out my time in one sitting. Fairway Solitaire is a card game with a golf theme. Unlike the traditional solitaire that comes with your new computer, this game requires you to remove cards by clicking a card either higher or lower than the one showing at the bottom of the screen until you either run out of stock cards or you win the game by removing all of the cards from the fairway.

This game is more fun than regular solitaire because of its unique golf related power ups. If you remove more than five cards in a row, it's considered a long drive! Your score is multiplied as you remove more and more cards. It's very exciting when you get a string of 15 to 20 cards. Your score will be multiplied by five, if you play your cards right!

You really get sucked into the game by the way the score is kept. Just like golf, there's a par, and depending on how many cards you leave, you get a positive or negative score. Of course, you win if your score is lower. Not only do the scoring and background images make you believe you're playing a game of golf, there is also a commentator. What other card game has a commentator?

As the levels get harder, you encounter water hazards and sand traps that need to be eliminated to win the game. I found myself using the iron save technique a lot during this point of the game. Every once in a while you will get a card with a golf club on it and a number. These clubs will stick with you throughout the game in your bag. They have different numbers on them, and you can use them in place of a card of that number. A six iron can be used as a six to get rid of a leftover seven.

I think the only bad thing about this game is the selection of characters at the beginning. Once you put in your name, they ask you to select your character. There are about five choices for men and five for women. Most of the women characters were not very attractive, and none of them looked anything like me.

Overall, I'd rate it 5/5. It's a great game. I'm going to pay for the full game. The trial version just isn't enough for me.
