I personally believe the cause of most mind barriers is a stress and anxiety build dam. When something troubles the heart, body, soul, we are constantly thinking about it. It wanders into our working lives, our social lives, often causing us moments of complete and utterly obvious daydreams, usually ending in a loud sigh, while we try to fix our problems. It's natural yet highly frustrating.
I believe there are several ways to boost memory, stemming from the conclusion that stress and anxiety are key factors.
1. Keep a journal to allow for a free mind during the day. Journals have been known and proven to relieve some of the anxiety felt throughout a typical working day/week. If you alleviate the pressures of thought processes, you will have ample space to collect date in the mind once again.
2. Exercise. This will stimulate blood flow, allowing for faster response times. This includes conversations, minimizing the stutters and 'Ums..'
3. Drink water. Caffeine will keep you alert for a period of time, yet the ending effect is a jumbled brain unable to function without that high. Water will eventually regulate the sleeping patterns, because lack of sleep results in foggy thinking, and regulate the blood flow. Hydrating is also important, because without it our systems slowly shut down, resulting in sleepiness and mental exhaustion.
5. Nap. I believe fully in the power of a good power nap. Sometimes the brain needs to shut down for a while to rejuvenate. Allow it a rest in the middle of the day, even if you lock your office door to take a ten minute power nap. Sometimes even a two hour nap in the afternoon is essential too. Whatever helps.
6. Take a short walk in the sun. This will stimulate relaxation while you soak in some vitamin D. (Note: Not too long, without proper sunscreen and a hat)
Sometimes merely stimulating the mind through exercises, something/anything different from the daily routine, will result in a better memory. The brain needs exercise, nutrients and occasional relief. Keep it happy and healthy and your memory will improve tenfold.
