Assessing advertising's influence on body image

Oh my I'm a size 0 now I can be accepted into society! Doesn't anybody realize being a skeleton is not attractive? Since I was 14 years old I've struggled with poor body image and bulimia. I'm so tired of the media telling me what I can and cannot look like. It's a horrible feeling when you look in the mirror and see yes I love me then you open up teen vogue and you feel this sense of unworthiness and you feel just ugly. I've been to plenty of hospitals and I've seen some pretty messed up people all because of I have too look just like Paris Hilton. Now I'm not saying we should all be overweight I just want to see change. I want to see a healthy change. I'm tired of thinking I'm good enough and then realizing because of the media I'm not. I'm 16 years old and I shouldn't have someone telling me I have to be 95 pounds to be worthy. Look at Mariah Carrey that's someone who I would love to look like. But you don't see her on many magazines. I will truly never understand why it's like this. Models have way to much influence on what we should look like. If I made the rules I would say everyone be who you want to be. A wise woman once told me "If you're happy with your body and the way you look don't let anyone tell you differently". And since this day I've never let anyone tell me differently and believe them. I've lost plenty of people to this media game but I know I'll never lose myself again. I'm proud to say I'm not another clone of girls who are so cookie cutter and all the same. I'm proud to say I dare to be different then movie stars and I dare to be me. Being me is just being healthy and not worrying what size pants I wear or how skinny I look. It matters how you feel about yourself and hopefully it's all good things. People should love there life because honestly life's to short to be worrying about what size pants you can wear. Or how many meals you can go without eating. It's about love and loving you for who you are. Just believe in yourself and love the body you got because it could be a lot worse. When I die I just want to leave behind one thing that one thing is "love life but most of all love yourself" and don't listen to the hype.
