The Rolling Stones, The Police, Paul McCartney, Led Zepplin, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton! is there really a debate here. Turn on any radio station with current music today and besides a few good bands, all you here is undecipherable rap music or some awful beat that sounds like it could have been created on a casio keyboard while Fergie sings awful lyrics over it.
No form of entertainment has declined in the past few decades as fast as music has. I for one don't go to concerts to see dancing I go to hear the music. I don't care how old they get the Rolling Stones know how to play good music. If you gave me two tickets to see any concert I wanted chances are that I would pick a group that had been around for longer then I had been alive. All of the classic music created in the 70's and 80's and today I have to hear three 6 mafia, or the latest musical debacle by Britney Spears when i turn on the radio! Don't get me wrong bands like Dave Matthews Band and Coldplay and artists like John Mayer still make great music, but for the most part the music of today can't hold a candle to songs created years ago.
If Mic Jagger wants to get up and dance then I'm ok with and and I am glad to see it, he has earned it! Also did I miss something? In order to have a greatest hits album didn't you have to have a considerable number of hits? Bands like U2, The Beatles, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, and Lynard Skynard these bands have earned the right to release a greatest hits album. If your career spans less then 10 years and under 5 albums then you don't meet the criteria. Britney Spears greatest hits?! really! give me the old performers any day they may not be young enough to dance around all night but their musically ability blows away some of the crap that passes for music today. I am clearly in the majority in this thinking too because last years largest earning tour was none other then the Police, and bands like Van Halen, Led Zepplin and the Stones still sell out any areana they play no matter what they charge per ticket. So I say keep on touring Mic because if im left with the music of today to satisfy my concert fix I will be in pretty sad shape
