A most annoying popular catch phrase today, although it has been around for maybe 2 or more years, is "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT."

Why do I find it annoying? Well...if you are attempting to share an experience you've had or would like to have, explaining it to someone during a conversation, if they reply, "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT," it implies sometimes that one should not continue their conversation, particularly if the other person rudely shows no signs of interest in what you have to say.

Experiencing this firsthand, maybe rarely, might not annoy a person; however, if you find you are repeatedly told this with every experience you attempt to relate to that same person, ...well... then it becomes annoying. Also, when that occurs, I suppose one may then have to evaluate the value of that friendship in the future.

So...hearing that phrase once in a while isn't intolerable, just if you get that response frequently from the same individual or groups of individuals.
