Enjoying marital bliss after the honeymoon stage

by Anar

The world is becoming so fast paced that people don't have enough time for themselves or for their loved ones. It is always been taken for granted that the people you love will always know that and you don't need to say it to them again and again. I have seen life very closely through personal tragedies and I believe you need to let the other person know how much you care about him/her now and than. This is also the main thing that I learnt from my husband.

Marriage for me was like a fairytale story just out of the book. Two years after a broken engagement and I was still hurt and sulking. Never thought that I would ever fall in love with somebody, least get married but, I did. I met my partner at work and within 3 months of knowing each other, we were married. After a hurried marriage and a long honeymoon I thought that life would be as blissful forever.

And that is when I found out that actually "life begins after honeymoon". Shifting to my new house and living with my husband 24/7 was a dream come true. A dream, which takes a lot of everyday effort not to break.

To enjoy continued marital bliss even after the honeymoon stage is over, I concluded that small things matter the most. Marriage gave me a new world full of life and freedom. I love cooking and my husband enjoys eating. We compliment each other in most ways. We have our differences but are sure to sort it out before we go to sleep. We both work and find time to make each other happy even in small things. Even a small note which says something funny brings a smile on my husband's face which makes my day. We make it a point to have the morning tea together so that the whole day passes with thoughts of each other. Of course there come times when I want to do something and he doesn't, in that case we try and find a middle way out.

The best thing that I learnt after being married for a long time is, the honeymoon phase passes away, love need not. Even in difficult times, some compromises and our support of each other made life easier. Each day makes up a life and we are able to go through the everyday life happily because we have each-other's love and forgiveness.
