Remember when life was easier,
When days were filled with friendship and fun,
Standing in old Mr Thomas' field,
Mud on our faces, the smell of nature on our skin.
The cool breeze didn't matter.
As long as there was a glimpse of sunshine in the evening sky,
We'd stay in that field- in that world.
Summers were endless,
Punctuated by rainstorms and picnics,
Sunburns and laughter.
We'd swing from the old oak, dangling by our legs
Already spattered with nettle bumps and bruises,
Hanging precariously,
Yet completely safe in our childish happiness.
Come with me now
And we'll hang from that tree,
Legs clutching, hand feeling the freedom below,
Nature on our skin, Summer in our hair.
Come with me now.
