Fifteen Minutes
Starched and stiff and upright,
The day speeds by.
Eight hours of enthusiasm and encouragement,
Pleases and Thankyous,
Polite conversation.
Perfect posture and lip-glossed lips.

Break free of the restrictions
Oh, to bend these weary limbs and
Curve this rigid spine
Oh, to reach that welcoming blue haven,
The steaming cup of brown syrup
And sweet, crumbling sugar that awaits
Just for fifteen minutes.
