Guide to family vacations in Puerto Rico

The Puerto Rican culture adores and embraces children; they consider family life a core cultural value. You will find during your stay that the fanciest restaurants, the beaches and resorts are all designed with families in mind.

Most major resorts have multiple restaurants, water parks, kid's camp and teen clubs to help make your family vacation a fun filled experience. The Westin Rio Mar Beach Golf Resort and Spa offers a Kid's for Free' package. What this means to you is that up to 2 kids, from the ages 4 to 12 years old, can stay and eat for free during you vacation at the Westin and you will receive a 25% discount of Golf outings and Spa visits.

In San Juan be sure to visit the Children's Museum or Museo Del Nino. Everything from the villages of playhouse to the large wooden figure who guards the entrance to this hands on museum will delight and entertain children of all ages.

Have you even seen a really awesome cave on a movie and thought dude I want to see a cave? Well on the western side of the island you will find the Rio Camuy Cave Park. These cave where formed by undergrounds rivers and are the third largest cave system in the world. You be entranced by the majestic beauty along every foot of the seven miles of trails, the 170 foot high cave and the forest filled sink holes.

Many of the beaches are perfect for families with small children, because they have natural coral reefs that protect them from intense waves and strong currents. El Esccambron in San Juan is 150 meters of sanding shore that is situated between two rocky promontories as well as an off shore reef and has playgrounds, restaurant and life guards on duty. Seven Seas Beach Park is located in Fajardo on Puerto Rico's eastern coast. It is also protected by an off-shore reef and is a natural nesting ground for sea turtles. It has two ecological coastal lagoons and is bordered by the Seven Seas Nature Reserve.

There is so much for you and your family to do while on the island of Puerto Rico you will wonder how you will be able to see it all. Whether you choice to visit the Culebra Wildlife Refuse or just relax on the beach; your vacation to Puerto Rico will not be one you will soon forget.
