Leith, Ontario area teen Logan Peat will be appearing in the 2008 season of professional mountain bike tour and television show, Drop In.

Peat won the spot in the North American tour through an open contest held by the Outdoor Life Network television channel and extreme sports website www.rip.tv.

"Wow! This is a dream come true." said Peat. "Thank you for everything the contest was a great ideaI hope I can make next season great"

Drop In is a television show that follows the best pro mountain bikers in North America on a cross continent tour. It's viewed in over 58 countries, and broadcasts on OLN in Canada. Although the show has just completed its fifth season this is the first time a contest like this has been held, offering any rider a chance to win a spot on the show.

Fans of the show were able to upload their own videos to rip.tv where other sports enthusiasts would vote on their favorite rider. Out of over a hundred entries Logan made the top three. The top three voted riders got to spend the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend in Whistler, B.C., appearing in the 2007 season finale of the show.

"It was important to have the three meet in Whistler to appear on one of the Drop In episodes" said Toni Muendel, Drop In Producer. "we could get to know them and see how they react on camera,"

The final three were again judged on their performance by viewers of the show, who voted online at www.rip.tv based on the TV appearance. Voting concluded this past Friday.

Peat stood head and shoulders above the crowd, with 66% of the vote from excited viewers worldwide.

"We're not only looking for the best rider, we're looking for personality and a team player." Muendel explained. "With this crew we found it - they are a super cool bunch with a ton of talent. I wish good luck to them because it's in the hands of the mountain biking public now."

The teen is currently studying adventure tourism in Alberta, but will soon be putting his studies on hold when he claims his prize next spring; a full time spot on the Drop In pro tour and television show, along with a sponsorship from Santa Cruz bikes.
