Why should the world care about another countries environmental issues? The answer is simple; they do not affect just a single person or neighborhood, they affect many people and many neighborhoods. Just because parts of the world do not suffer from one countries environmental disasters doesn't mean that they may, in some way, shape, or form.
Problems in one country are bound to affect another. Diseases, as well as epidemics can spread and the more refugees that start moving to other countries, or dying, the less trade the world can conduct with each other. All countries will tie in with other countries in some way. To care about the well being of ourselves is to care about the well being of others.
Some parts of Africa are not very privileged when it comes to economic needs and they could probably use some help when it comes to financial needs. The first step to fixing, thus improving economical and environmental issue's is to have the financial means to do so. Then everything can be mapped out accordingly to make changes for the better. None of these people terrorized or destroyed their land on their own. In fact, the grand majority of the damages were caused by wars and other natural disasters. None of it was deliberate or planned out to happen the way that it did, these people love their country like you love yours.
Mozambique's environment has been detrimental to not only the citizens, but the animals as well, for many years. The Civil War, flooding, and droughts are what jump-started their life threatening environmental mess making them lose at least 70% of their countries forests. Since all of their severe losses, the African government and the people have launched restoration projects planting conifers and eucalyptus plants in efforts of rebuilding their forests.
Not only are the forests in Mozambique severely effected with environmental issues, but the water for the country is as well. Approximately a mere 81% of all cities in Mozambique and a smaller 41% of rural areas in the nation have pure water just to drink.
In 1992, a report conducted by the United Nations, had claimed that the humans in Mozambique are the most endangered species in the country. In 2005, approximately 19,792 people had died alone, making the life expectancy to be no longer than at least 42 years of age. This wouldn't be too surprising if the contaminated water supply had a larger amount to do with the higher death rates.
