Before thinking of quitting your day job for a full day of blogging, you should really be financially comfortable and be absolutely sure that you will be able to devote a certain quality and quantity of time towards your blogging. Until you are absolutely sure that it can be done and it is worth your while, only then you should decide to quit your job.
I also agree with what was said about putting as much time as you can into blogging just to see what the return is like at first. Sometimes we end up making decisions rather too quickly before even devoting some quality time into it just to see how things unfold. I find that there are even " down days " where you may even feel completely blank or as if you have writer's block and just cannot think on what topic to write on. So it is not an easy task.
You should be mentally and physically ready to be able to put in as much as at least 6-8 hours a day into writing on various topics to realize a handsome return. There may be so much more to it then you actually thought. It is always a wise thing to do some homework/research before considering to quit your day job permanently. I would advise anyone that wants to look into blogging full time to devote as much time as possible doing it first and then deciding whether it is surely something they can do and will have the passion to keep on doing every single day for at least 4-5 days a week and 6-8 hours a day.
I must also admit that a lot of research is involved if you want to attain accuracy and credibility. You should be ready to put in ample amount of hours to achieve a certain goal whether it be short-term or long-term. In this case, if blogging is being considered as a full time job then you must be ready to consider it long-term and you should be ready to bring on some creativity as well so that you can allow yourself to catch the reader's attention as well. I don't think it is an easy task considering the frame of mind you may be in at that given time or over a span of weeks.
So until you are not totally satisfied mentally and financially, do not decide to quit your day job.
