Bible study: Assessing whether Old Testament laws should be kept

Assessing whether Old Testament laws should be kept?

To answer this question, you must know what was the purpose of the old testament laws. The word says in Heb 9:10 that the law which was about meats and drinks, and various washings and carnal ordinances was imposed on them(the Jews) until the time of reformation. The reformation occurred on the day of Pentecost when the believers were filled with Holy Spirit. Gal 4:5 says Jesus came to redeem them(the Jews) who were under the law that they might receive the adoption of sons.

Romans 6:14 says it very clearly that we(Christians) are not under the law but under grace. In Acts 15 Christians were assembled in Jerusalem for the matter of whether the disciples should be circumcised and keep the law of Moses (Acts 15:5). There was much disputing about this subject and Peter stood up and said how the Gentiles received the Holy Spirit as well as them and said you should not put a yoke upon the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear.(v.10)
Jesus said in Matt 11:30 that his yoke was easy and his burden is light and the word also says that his commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3). God gave the Jews the law to obey until faith came and now that faith has come, the word calls these ordinances doctrines and commandments of man of touch not, taste not and handle along with observing of days, months, times and years (Col 2-20-23, Gal 4:9-11).
A few other scriptures that will clarify how the old testament laws have been nullified by the death and resurrection the Lord Jesus Christ. In Romans 7:6 says that we are now delivered from the law, which was only a shadow of good things to come and to usher in a better hope(Heb 10:1, Heb 7:19).
Eph 2:15 says that Jesus abolished in his flesh the enmity, the law of commandments in ordinances to not only bring the Jews back to God but the Gentiles that all may be reconciled to God having blotted out the handwriting of ordnances which was against us and contrary to us, Jesus took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross (Col 2:14). And it goes on to say let no judge you in meat or drink or respect to holydays or the new moon or of the sabbath which are a shadow of things to come.
It is clear, that the law was a shadow of things to come and was only temporarily until Jesus instituted a new covenant in which He is also a mediator between man and God (Heb 9:15) and came to take away the first covenant that he may establish the second. And 2 Cor 3:7 says it very clearly that the old testament was a ministration of death written and engrave in stones which is done away. While Rom 10:4 says that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes.
In that regard, the law is not for the righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient and others which is stated in 1 Tim 1:9. The word says it is good if a man uses it lawfully but for a Christian we have a better covenant established on better promises and a new commandment to love one another, by this all shall know we are the disciples of Jesus if we have love one to another (John 13:34-35).
