So you've fixed up your used car: you've made the necessary repairs, turned the odometer back a few thousand miles, cleaned it, and determined its value. Good job. But guess what? You've probably overlooked the most important part of selling your car: someone buying it. It's shocking, I know, but finding a buyer is essential. If you don't, then you've just done all that work for nothing.
Finding a buyer is half of what you need to do in order to successfully sell your car. The other half is advertising it and getting it ready to be sold. When it comes to getting a buyer there's good news and bad news.
The good news is that there are people interested in buying your car. The bad news is that you have to reach them, and that's going to take Work.
Luckily, the invention of the internet has provided you with a great venue in which to unload your used vehicle: The Information Super Highway (make sure you don't get in a car accident). You can advertise the car for sale online and find buyers in your area using one of the many services available. However, just as you would if you were placing an ad in the classifieds (that's the newspaper for you young people), you have to be careful of creeps and criminals. Always play it safe when meeting someone you don't know for a potential sale. Be cautious of whom you let test drive your car.
Now, reaching the right people is easy if you know your target buyers. Some things to consider when deciding where to advertise are:
What kind of car do you have? How old is it? How damaged is it?
If it's older-and maybe not in peak appearance in terms of dents and scratches-it might be better suited to a young person buying his or her first car. Or maybe someone without much money (like a poor person). If it's a late model car and newer, your potential buyer could be anyone. And you'll want to make it look good.
Making your car appear attractive to buyers (notice I said "appear") is an essential aspect of getting it sold. For God's sake, take the extra time and money to repair scratches, have it cleaned, check the tires, and repair dents. These minor, sometimes barely noticeable features, can make a big difference.
When you advertise, consider how soon you need to get the car sold. It might be a good idea to note in an advertisement that you're willing to accept a lower price if the car can be bought immediately. Be flexible if you need to be.
When taking calls concerning the car, do your best to be a salesman. You're not, and a salesman can do
