Exercises for the office

There are many types of exercises that can be done anywhere at anytime.

There are breathing exercises, thinking exercises, and workouts.
All of these types of exercises are important for health.

1. Breathing Exercises
-Diaphragmatic breathing deeply can start you off on the right path. Inhale through your nose and out through your mouth deeply a few times to get started.

-Ujjayi breath (Ocean breath) is what is used in Yoga. This also helps your body.
-Breathing in general helps you to think better and relax.

2. Thinking exercises
-Think about what you want to accomplish that day, and imagine yourself doing it. Then, do it.
-Keep yourself positive and focused. Try to find one happy thing about each aspect of your life.

3. Physical Workout
-Chair exercises
a. Don't stay in one position too long. Move your head from side to side. Move your shoulders up and down.
b. Flex and release muscles - especially in your hands and toes. Flex each muscle in your body for a few seconds and then release. You can continue throughout the day as a mini workout, or just warm-up. You can also keep your abdominal muscles tense throughout the day to support your back and workout your abs.

-Calisthenics
a. Push-ups. These can be done anywhere, on chairs or desks, on inclines, depending on what you are wearing. Be careful not to slip and hurt yourself on the edge of a desk.
b. Squats. Use your chair. Stand up and sit down just until your butt is grazing the chair and stand up again. Repeat.
c. Calves. On flat ground or on the edge of a big book. Raise yourseful up and down using just your calves.

-Weights
a. Keep weights in your office or use a heavy briefcase. You can do sets of bicep curls etc. Standing or sitting.

-Stretches
Be sure to stretch throughout the day. These can be done anywhere. Don't sit too long in your chair.

Another good set of exercises is eye exercises. Don't stare at the computer screen or papers too long. Move your eyes around and focus on things of different distances.

Whenever you have time, use a combitation of these exericses to help maintain your health.
