How to accelerate the speed of your PC

if you are on Intel Core2 Duo then you may want to upgrade to Intel Core 2 Quad. If you are looking for non-Intel then you can go for the cheaper AMD which has got some very good reviews. So if you are on Semperon then you will have to upgrade to Athlon or the latest one called Phenom.

5. Upgrade the Graphics card
If you want to use high capacity graphics on your PC then you need to have a Graphics card with adequate power. While upgrading the graphics card remember it is linked to your motherboard as there could be compatibility issues. Also, technology wise there are three fundamental ones available - ISA, AGP, PCI. The last one being the latest and brightest! If you have a 64MB card then enhance it to 128MB or even better, 256MB. More the power, faster is your computer. Do some research on the internet for the best deals and reviews.

Doing the hardware changes require some knowledge of the hardware concepts. Do not attempt to do it yourself if you are not aware of all the intricate functioning of a computer. You are better off taking it to the local computer store which will do these upgrades for you but for a fee. Besides you will also receive some good advice from them which may help you decide on the upgrades to buy. It may be worth paying the fee as the alternative is fouling up your computer which is not a very good thing!

Hardware upgrades are a one time activity that will increase the performance of your computer. However, there is another factor that requires maintenance that will improve the speed and it is software. Let us now look at the software options available for optimizing your PC. You will not need to purchase new software as most of these are already available on your computer and you need to use them regularly to keep your PC in spic and span condition.

1. Disk cleanup
The first tool that you should regularly use is the disk cleanup utility. This comes bundled with your windows software and hence there is no cost. Everytime you visit a website, the pages on the site are stored on your PC and after you close your browser this file remains on your computer. Naturally this eats up space over a period of time. The disk cleanup will identify how much space you can free on your computer by deleting temporary internet files, setup log files, recycle bin files, downloaded program files, temporary files etc. When you run this program it will show you how much space you can add by deleting these files.

2. Regular disk scan
I am sure your computer already
