Where are the heroes today? They are in the classrooms all over America. They teach our nations children. They are the educators. Those who have chosen this profession and truly love what they do are the ones who make this nation great.
I didn't always have this opinion about teachers but I have learned to appreciate the good ones. If it were not for teachers we would not have the great leaders we have today. They have a tendency to inspire those whom they teach to reach beyond themselves and acquire greatness. It is strange that so many take teachers for granted.
It was a teacher who inspired me to make good grades. The first day I entered the eight grade I was afraid to embrace the unknown. I really didn't know what to expect when she stood in front of the class and said, "I expect everyone in this homeroom to be on the honor roll". She set the standard that changed my life and quite possibly my offspring lives as well. Because of her I began my quest for excellence. I made sure that I made the honor roll because of her challenge.

But it was the heroic efforts of the teachers in my life who really caused me to be lifted out of poverty into the middle class. They taught me to read and write. They taught me math and science. They taught me the importance of health, social studies, and history. But most importantly they taught me how to learn.
Because of those heoric teachers I was able to lift my sights to being whatever I wanted to be. They caused me to embark on a lifelong journey of education and learning. They helped me to establish a grand purpose for my life and that has been to change my entire family. As I looked over my family I could see only a few who had an education or any career that mattered much. So I decided I would become the second person in my family to become educated on the higher level. As it
