Large group or small group? I favor the small, quality groups over the large group. Ever try to remember 25 different birthdays, anniversaries and Good Lord knows what else, let alone trying to remember what everyone drinks? And then try to remember what their kids name are, what they like and trying to entertain the little people while entertaining the adults. Nope, them small groups are the way to go.
But I guess in order to quantify my answer, I would have to state what I consider a small group is. Right now my small group is six people with one person on standby. "But how in the world could you arrive at that number Buck?" You may ask me. I would be glad to answer your inquiry. I simply arrive at the number six by counting how many people I will need to carry my casket, One handle for each friend and a standby friend just in case someone is unable to make it.
Go with a larger group and you have folks that will try to get outta helping you and then your widow is left trying to figure out where to attach the come-along to the casket to get your carcass in the ground. I love my wife, I do not want to do that to her.
I used to have large parties and lots of people who came to my house when we had one of those parties. I would have people sleeping in every room of the house, in tents in the back yard and the police stopping in to find out what in the world was happening. After I got hurt and could no longer have them monster parties, I saw very few of these friends. Maybe four or five would call and see how I was doing and if I needed anything. I guess a true friend is someone who still talks to you after the party is over.
Although rumor has it if I do not start being a little more friendly, I make have to think about cremation when my time comes....
