Starting Over

I looked out my morning window
Wrote a list of what I saw
Street turned colour with the rainfall
Children locked behind their doors
Don't go out it's safe inside
You've lately thought of moving
Stay around and be my friend
Another kind of loving

I've always feared an empty life
And I can't make it on my own
Sometimes need to talk it out
And sometimes need to be alone

Sometimes words can be too harsh
We both have points for proving
Stay around let's sort it out
Another kind of loving

Running around and going nowhere
Making up plans for finding somewhere
Banish it all into the future
We'll find our answers then
Love has its rules and obligations
Leading to foolish situations
Both hitting out in sheer frustration
Then starting all over again
Starting all over again

I need to look beyond these four walls
See what's happening outside
See the world my mind unhindered
By doubts or fears or broken pride
I turn back to a state of mind
That somehow needs improving
There's still a way of getting by
Another kind of loving

My head's been buried deep in books
By prophets and by profiteers
But questions they can never answer
Ring forever in my ears
Words of wise men words of fools
It all gets so confusing
Perhaps the answer lies within
