What you can do to promote women's rights

a right that our fore-mothers fought for generations to preserve for us. Denying yourself that right is disrespectful to not only yourself, but those who risked their lives to institute such laws. You may also join NOW (it costs about thirty-five dollars per annum), or make a donation to their causes.

Pay attention to the women that do have power in our government. Hillary Clinton is a woman's advocate because she is one of us. This may or may not mean that she is perfect for the Presidency, that is for the individual voter to decide. But she is interested in the issues that plague today's women. There are other ways to advocate women's rights or feminism. You can donate money to the Susan B. Anthony house so that they may continue school tours and public tours of the historic house. You can attend rallies and meetings, or even organize your own to meet with a circle of other women who are also willing to do a small part to help with women's issues.

Though great strides were taken through Roe vs Wade, there are still wars that will continue to be ongoing about a woman's personal right to have an abortion. Men want to deny women, because it is not their decision to make, and many bills often have attachments added to them outlawing any funds to be allocated to clinics that even think about performing abortions, let alone actually practice them. This is wrong for several reasons. Not allowing a woman to have an abortion is against the law, and punishing a doctor who performs it, is against the constitution, let alone something that breaks doctor patient confidentiality.

What can you do to promote your rights? Use them! Using the legal rights that are afforded to you right now will allow you to perhaps change the course of history. How does that old saying go? "Well behaved women rarely make history". So, let's make some history, ladies. We need to use the rights that we have before we lose them.
