I do not like the term forced, but should women be allowed to fight for their country? Yes! It is their country, also, after all. And should not they be allowed to fight for the same freedoms they watch their men go off and fight.
I am not a soldier, but I believe that a little female company in a war zone would be quite comforting, and it would sure give me the will and courage to face my enemy knowing my mate has my back. It has been proved over and over again, they when you put a man, and his mate, in a battle situation, you have a formidable force to contend with. My Mom defended my father as strongly as she defended her children.
To say that for them being a woman they should not be subjected to the viciousness of battle is to say let's not tell the people what they should know, but what we want them to know. Bit of a jump, but it fits. Who to say that a woman could not toe the line, as it were. Some would say, not many. But, most would prove one wrong.
I do not condone war, or any other facet involving violence, but if our women are needed to defend what is ours, then the more power to them. And if need be...the draft.
Though, before I send the women, send those who started to whole mess in the first place. Of course, the problem here being who is responsible, and who goes first.
So why should it only be the men who go off to war? We can't sent children, though Hitler tried, or old people, no matter how much they want to. So we send the best of our men. This really rankles on some, and relieves others.
The draft is never a good thing, and it had been abused by those who ran the system, and by those affected by it. These abuses, and all tthe moral, economic, and political issues involved have tarnished the benefits that such a system offers.
Benefits being a society that works together, no matter the barriers. A society that thinks together, no matter the cultural differences. And a society that will fight together, no matter the gender.
