Las Vegas: The city that never sleeps. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks a year, the air in this Nevada city pulses with the constant flow of tourists and locals, minor celebrities and superstars. Hotels, shows, bars, casinos, shopping: there is always something to see, something to do or somewhere to be in Las Vegas. In fact, there's so much going on that it's difficult not to spend all of your money in the first two days of your visit! However, don't fret. There are ways of enjoying your Vegas vacation in style, without breaking the bank. Here are a few tips on how to do Las Vegas on a budget.
Deciding where to stay in Las Vegas is a decision that could take a while. There are approximately 28 big' hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. Circus Circus, located at the North end of the Strip, is usually the cheapest place to stay, with rooms in the Manor ranging from $36-$100. Be aware that even these cheap rates are bumped up to around $200 on a weekend when a big celebrity or convention is in town. Sahara and Tropicana are next on the inexpensive list. It is usually cheaper to reserve a room online, through the hotel's website. However, if you have some time to book before your arrival, I would suggest spending plenty of time on the internet searching for a bargain. Many websites offer discounts for one week only or during summer sales. It's all about timing when it comes to booking a Las Vegas hotel. Another alternative is to stay off the Strip. There is a plethora of hotels and motels situated a short walk from the Strip. Prices can be $10 cheaper than Circus Circus and you could save $100 or more on prices of the more expensive hotels.
You don't have to spend your budget on food whilst in Las Vegas (although it is tempting with all the delicious offerings in the Strip hotels!) Some hotels have refrigerators in the rooms, as well as coffee making facilities, and there are grocery stores situated at the top end of the Strip where you can stock up on the basics to snack on in your room. The cheapest way to feed the family is at a buffet; these can be found in most hotels. Prices range from $13- $35 per person for food and drinks and you really can eat as much as you like. Whilst walking up and down the Strip, look out for people handing
