I can't imagine why anyone would want to close a small church. I would much rather belong to a small church then one of the mega Churches you see today. If you stop and look at the mega churches you will find they work very hard to become small. They all promote small groups. A mega church is nothing more than a cluster of small churches under one roof.

I belong to a small church. I find a closeness there that I don't find in larger churches. I like the feeling of community and family we have with each other. Let me be quick to say that does not mean we don't want to enlarge. Our doors are always open. Everyone is welcomed to come and stay. Truth be told we would have a long way to go before we become a mega church.

Mega Churches offer a variety of self help groups but a smaller Church offers each other to help out when one of our members is having a difficult time. We are freer to laugh together, cry together and pray together. There is nothing we can't face together. Isn't that what church is about? Jesus is our leader and we follow. By serving each other we are serving Him. By serving Him we are serving the world and all we encounter.

Just because a church is small it does not mean it is useless. Or that it does not have a purpose. A small Church can serve a whole community just as much as a larger church. The people attending a small church have lives too. We work, shop, go to school, etc. And everywhere we go we take our beliefs with us and we share them with anyone interested to hear. We may be small but we have great power.

Let me invite you to stop in and worship at a small church. Taste and see for yourself the warmth and love that flows among the people. You'll find that same warmth and love extended to you. There are no strangers in a small church.
