I put off starting my own blog for quite some time. I felt it would be a time consuming task to get it set up the way I wanted it to be. What if I ran out of things to blog about? What if nobody ever read the things I blogged about?
Then there was all that talk about spending time generating traffic to my blog. There was a growing debate as to whether blogs should be set up to earn money from them, or if this took away, from the writing experience that blogs provide. If I did set one up to earn money, I would have to spend more time reading and learning how to do that.
Recently I started trying to earn money online as an Affiliate Marketer. While some sources said I should have my own web site to do this, other things I read, said it wasn't a requirement as an affiliate marketer. At first, I thought I wouldn't need my own web site, as I didn't have any of my own products to promote. I was promoting web sites, products and services that other people owned. I thought all I would need to do, was direct my potential customers, to what I wanted them to look at, and hopefully buy from me, through my affiliate links.
Then I realized I had no central location, where that mass of internet humanity would go to see what I would be promoting next, or what I might be ranting and raving about from time to time.
Starting my own web site intimidated me. I didn't have any knowledge about html or the technical things required to set up a web site. I didn't know the first thing about how I would go about getting traffic to my web site.
There's also a whole gang of computer gremlins that live in my computer. They delight in creating all kinds of computer mishaps for me. They would have a field day, if I actually tried to start my own web site.
Then I thought about starting a blog. This seemed like a good compromise for me. It didn't seem to require quite as much work, or knowledge as setting up my own promotional web site might take. It also would satisfy my need, desire and the pure enjoyment I get from writing.
Now that I've finally started my blog, it's starting to grow on me.
In school, I had to write my essays about the specific topic the Teacher assigned me. I didn't have a choice about what I could write about. At Article Directories, today, my writing must meet the standards and guidelines, as listed at those different publications.
That's not only making sure I have correct grammar usage, spelling and formatting, but meeting minimum or
