Advantages of sage tea

The advantages of sage tea in health help calms the nerves, improve digestion and ease the lung congestion and coughs. The parts used in salvia officinalis (sage) tea are its leaves by boiling water and placing the tea bag or leaves in the hot water for three minutes, then remove. Other advantages of sage tea are for the use of spice flavoring vegetables, chicken, meats, fish and eggs.

Its native Mediterranean herb name comes from Latin salvus meaning safe and is naturalized throughout Europe and Northern America. Romana is another name of this aromatic grayish-green plant known as garden sage, meadow sage and true sage. Its specific name officinalis indicates the advantages of sage tea as an official list of medicinal herbs.

The advantages of sage tea used in Native Americans are the roots and leaves of lyre-leaf sage known as cancer-weed healing sores and treating colds and coughs. Egyptians use sage tea to treat plague and the Romans honored the herb as a sacred plant. In China sage tea is used from its roots for its soothing and healing qualities.

Sage blossoms in the middle of the summer with small white, blue or purple flowers and its fresh leaves are bitter to taste. Sage has antioxidant properties used by food industries to improve the stability of oils that are kept in storage for long periods of time.

Main ingredients in sage include volatile oil, thujone, diterpene bitters, tannins, camphor, resin, triterpenoids, estrogenic, flavonoids, phenolic acids, substances, rosmarinic, caffeic acids and saponins. Advantages of sage is known to have anti-allergic effects and acts as an antiperspirant, antiseptic, carminative, antispasmodic, astringent and antibiotic.

Calming the central nervous system and reducing anxiety are advantages of sage tea. Sage is also high in calcium and provides vitamin C and B-complex as well as potassium, magnesium and zinc. The advantages of sage tea are its bitter digestive stimulant that acts to relieve digestive problems, sooth spasms in smooth and skeletal muscles and has estrogenic substances to help regulate menstruation.

Sage tea can be used for healing purposes either cold or hot. The advantages of sage tea cold helps reduce night sweats in menopausal women and will reduce milk flow in breast-feeding mothers. Sage infusion acts as an expectorant when the tea is hot with advantages of relieving common colds and flu. Sage has antibacterial properties to eliminate gingivitis and used as a mouthwash and antiseptic
