- TOMATO SOUP -

Theres something about Tomato soup that conjures up visions and feelings of warmth and comfort. Of sitting around a table on a cold winters day with a bowl of rich, red tomato soup steaming away in front of you, accompanied by Large chunks of crusty bread with lashings of yellow butter. Tomato soup is a comfort food. Comfort food is as it sounds, it can make you feel secure and warm as it brings feelings of well being to you.It is delicious, nutritious, and very warming.

The recipe for Heinz tomato soup is spot on and I can see why it is the favourite with all who choose it. I am looking at a cheerful red can with the black Heinz logo . Surrounded by clusters of ripe tomatos, on the vine.. I have bought the 'mug size' can, which contains 171 calories.Weight is 300 grams. It is low fat and low sugar. I shall have this with wholemeal bread and butter, with sprinklings of black pepper, and grated cheese. I love the way the cheese melts, into the thick tomato soup. I have just noticed it recommends this, on the reverse of the can. Also, a swirl of fresh cream, is a nice presentation feature.

This makes a delicious lunch. And I am getting hungry at the thought. Also on the can, it states the fact that Heinz was established in 1869.The cooking instructions are to cook on hob, or microwave.Remember, If cooking it in the microwave, remove from can first! :0)....This soup is suitable for vegetarians, and those on a gluten free diet. And this serving contains 2g, of recommended daily salt intake, which is 6g.Once opened, if storing ,remove from can into covered container. And consume within 7 days. This can has a ring pull. (Whoever invented that, must of made a fortune.) Which is convienient, if you are away from home. The can is made from recyclable steel. As i open the can, I notice the vibrant colour of the liquid. And the aroma of sweet tomatoes.
Once in the pan, I bring to the boil, then turn down low, and simmer for two minutes, whilst stirring with a wooden spoon.. Leaving the soup to infuse, and bubble. I prefer to drink my soup from a bowl. It just tastes better. Why is that? And I transfer the soup from pan to bowl. It really is quite a healthy serving, much more than I expected.With a bright red/orange inviting colour, suggesting warmth and comfort,it's Perfect
