After a rifle's bullet silenced America's soul, Dr. King's dreams remained important for the Now Generation. Subtle nuances of his importance included history books are written with more accuracy. Finally, African-Americans, Latin-Americans, Asian-Americans and Native Americans received their overdue credit for building this nation.
Because of Dr. King, black people realized the importance of voting. Candidates paid more attention at appeasing their Afro-American constituents. Former President Bill Clinton's two terms were prime examples. During the Civil Rights Movement, Dr. King stressed family and religion being vital for spiritual growth. He took that spiritual strength from his pulpit. Even, "Dynamite Bob" Robert Chambliss and the KKK couldn't kill that. Their bomb destroyed the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Four little black girls were killed and twenty people were injured. Director, Spike Lee paid hommage to King's legacies of integration and equality by filming "Four Little Girls" in 2004. As of this day, very few, rural schools in the South are still segregated. However, tens of thousands of public and private schools are integrated.
Since his assassination, generations of black youths graduated from college. Dr. King's social activitism inspired an era of potential, black leaders. Young, professional athletes like Grant Hill and Chris Webber took to studying about the fallen leader. Both men purchased rare, African-American art and are displaying it on museum tours. For a decade, everyday people got their opportunities at viewing black achievements through literary, music and art.
Dr. King's teachings were about thinking of others, bettering society and become productive , first-class citizens. He died while providing those values to our people; our American people.
