Preparing a Resume: Working with Limited Job Experience
For those who have worked at the same place for many years, writing a resume can be an intimidating feat. Here are some tips
If you have held several different positions, list each job title as a separate entry on the resume:
Employer, City, State 2006 Present
Regional Manager
Promoted from Manager in January, 2006

Employer, City, State 2003 2006
Manager
Promoted from Team Lead in April, 2003

If the same position has been held the entire time and there is little or no prior work experience, try the following:
Include any internships, volunteer work, or community service that has been performed. List bulleted details of duties and accomplishments.
List with detail any significant college coursework you have done, such as a final project and what it entailed or a major essay/thesis and what it was about.
Create a heading for Awards and Recognitions' and list any personal or professional achievements (i.e. 2nd place in a beauty pageant' or employee of the month').
Definitely include any written publications, public presentations, or event coordination efforts in which you have participated.
As always, be sure to include languages spoken, pertinent skills, and personal interests. Even if this information seems trivial to you, it helps paint a portrait in the mind of the reader. And who knows maybe you and the hiring manager share a unique hobby!
