Ongoing career education and training: Tips and resources

"Ongoing career education and training: Tips and resources"

Career education depends on your chosen career.

There are trade schools that can help you obtain the maximum amount of education in a short time period. Those schools won't make you take, a language course, or unrelated classes they get straight to what you need to rise up the ladder in your field.

This site will take you to the schools in your area;

When searching out a specific school. Find out the name of the equipment or software you want to work on, then do a search on that company.

Example:
Telecommunications, you can check under Tellabs,
http://www.tellabs.com/
Or Sun systems

Choosing a school is as easy as figuring out what you want to work with.

Don't rush into signing up with a school. You need to make sure that school you choose will give you the training you are looking for. Check online. Then go visit the school. One important question, if you can't finish the class in the allotted time frame. Will they allow you to finish it later on?

You also want to make sure the classes you take are accredited, which means the time and money spent will be acknowledged by everyone.

I have found it is easier to learn in school and sit at a desk than taking an online course. This doesn't mean that online course won't help you with your career. If you already have experience in a specific field, then online is a great way to go. But if you have no experience with the curriculum going to a class will help you to understand the information.

I have been contacted by schools offering fake degrees.' I was informed that I would never' have to enter a school or take a test. All I needed to do was give them a few thousand dollars they would give me a fake degree.' Not a good idea, if you are hired using a fake degree. When your employer finds out you will be fired.

If you are working and want to take classes, ask your HR department if they will pay for your continuing education. Some businesses offer that option to employees. You may have to stay at that company for at least one or two years after you get a degree, or certification. If you decide to move on, you may have to pay the company back for the education they provided. Check out all the regulations first.

Even if you can't get financial help from either the school or your employer, don't let that stop you from trying to better yourself and your career options. Ask to be transferred into the job you want. Start at the bottom, take notes and learn all you can so you can move up the corporate ladder.

1) Decide what courses you want to take.
2) Find the schools offering those courses.
3) Make sure the schools are accredited.
4) Visit the schools. Ask questions.
5) Request financial assistance from your job or from the school.
6) Don't try to get a fake degree.

Lastly, pick a career you will enjoy. No one likes what they do every minute of the day. So it helps immensely if you start out happy in your work, you will have less bad days.
