I'm no beauty therapist but I like to think I know a thing or two about beauty products. Not one to stick to the same products all the time (its actually better for your skin to vary what you put on it) I have tried and tested countless lotions and potions.
Let me share with you those essential beauty products that I certainly couldn't live without and you shouldn't either- not if you want to be rewarded with healthy, beautiful skin. By no means is this an exhaustive list, but it is what every woman should have lurking in their bathroom cabinets.
1) The beauty basics for your skin care are a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer. In fact, I buy these three core ingredients for my husband- men should have clean, moisturized skin too! A few tips- you don't need to buy expensive brands, very often the cheaper ones are just as good and in some cases, better. What I suggest, before you invest, is that you get a few sample sachets from the beauty counters next time to go to the mall. I always find the ladies at the counter most obliging and they will usually give you advice as to what would be suitable for your skin-type too. Just ensure that you don't select a toner with alcohol in it as this can irritate your skin. Also choose a moisturizer with a SPF factor- it is essential you protect your face from those harmful sun rays.
2) Another item of skin care every woman should own is an eye cream. The layers of skin around your eye are the thinnest and most delicate and should therefore be treated with especial care. There are lots of eye creams out there that do a number of different things- fight wrinkles, moisturize, brighten, help to illuminate dark circles under the eyes. If you're a bit unsure of where to start, let me recommend Clinque's All About Eyes. I'm not a huge Clinque fan but this product is well worth every penny.
3) If I was to be stuck on a desert island and I could only bring one beauty product with me, I'd be Vaseline. Hands down. This ingenious little pot of petroleum jelly has a multitude of uses (many of them household but that's a different article)! I have been coating a layer on my upper and lower eyelashes every night since I can remember. Years ago, I read that Vaseline encourages hair growth and therefore to achieve long, lustrous and healthy eyelashes just continuously apply before bed and enjoy the results! I have the longest eyelashes of anyone I know and people are always commenting on them. There- now you know my most treasured beauty
