Yes i do believe it is okay to let a baby or child cry there selves to sleep as soon as my children hit 6 months i let them cry there selves to sleep if i knew my kids were not wet, hungry or anything else i let them cry there selves to sleep. I feel like it teaches them to be independent. I said i wouldn't have a child that was spoiled to sleeping habits and they aren't. I wasn't going to get my children use to rocking tickling or anything to that nature. I do not feel that it made me a bad parent and there is nothing wrong with my kids so what is the big problem? To me nothing, I even asked my children's doctor if there was anything wrong with it he simply said " if you know there is not anything wrong with your child then there is not a problem with it let them cry its good for them" most parents pick there child up as soon as they hear them cry that is not good. You should not do that to your child they need to cry it is good exercises for there lungs. If you pick your child up as soon as they cry that would then make them spoiled they would see then that all they need to do is whine for a moment to get held. Yes if your child wakes in the middle of the night crying yes you may need to tend to them, Lay there for a moment if there cry seems to get louder or they do not lay back down after about 2 minutes then yes go in change there diaper and make sure is everything is okay with them if its time to eat feed them. Then lay them back into there beds to go back to sleep. But, every time your child cries you do not have to jump up. If they see that your not just going to jump up and pick them up they will start sleeping threw the night because they know it is not time to get up and play. A baby does not understand day and night that is why you have to teach them. If you run into there room every time they make a peep that isn't teaching them. This is how i feel about babies crying themselves to sleep. I strongly believe that it will not hurt them to cry them selves to sleep.
