Why planning for retirement is important

Why is it important to plan for anything? It is important to plan for retirement so that you can deal with any contingencies that may develop. Proper retirement planning is necessary so that you will be able to keep income coming in the door above and beyond your Social Security check (if the program still exists when it is your time to retire) upon which you can live for the rest of your retirement. Additionally, once you reach retirement, you should no longer have to worry about money (at least in my opinion). You spent your entire working life obtaining, worrying about, and losing (hopefully only a little) money. Therefore, when it is your time to retire, you should be able to spend your money as you please without fear of running out. This is where retirement planning becomes beneficial.

By planning for retirement, even at a young age, you are creating a safety net for yourself. In other words, you are creating an insurance for yourself so that you will have enough money to be able to retire comfortably. Proper retirement planning will take into account the many contingencies that could result and creates plans for the various investment vehicles you could utilize.

Although it is possible to create a retirement plan on your own, I would suggest that you seek the help and advice of a professional so that you can completely understand all of your options and so that all your questions can be completely answered.

Just because you are in your twenties does not mean that you should not start to think about a retirement plan. The younger you are the more of a chance you will have to create a substantial "nest egg" for retirement. Additionally, the more time that your savings earns interest, the more interest money you will obtain.

The point is, retirement planning is necessary so that your retirement is not racked with debt and depression. Take action now and create a successful retirement for yourself.
