greater,
When it shall come to you, some time much later."
I'll admit I was confused by the old man's psalm.
So I took it to be, only a lazy mans song.
"My friend," he said, "Why don't you listen?",
Lighthearted, his eyes started to glisten.
I asked the man, "Sir what do you mean?"
"Soon enough my friend, when you're me you will see."
Still unsure of what the kind stranger meant,
I decided it was time that I went.
I continued my way to an unknown destination,
I wandered the wild in search of inspiration.
I walked in life, enjoying nothing she showed.
Like a treacherous river her mean waters flowed.
The wind of her furry was hard when it hit.
I was lost in her hurricane, of this I admit.
But after many cold days, and storm filled nights,
I came to a place so calm and so right.
As I looked to my right, and I looked to my left,
Tall grass both directions, by the wind they were swept.
A wind so calm and light as a feather,
I thought to myself "What grand nightly weather!"
I then looked ahead and saw the clear blue ocean,
So vast and so large, as if filled with emotion.
The deep blue waters were calm and stood still,
As if froze some place in time, where all waves would yield.
The marble like surface reflected an image:
A large ring of fire, and sparks in a scrimmage!
I looked to the sky, and saw the eclipse of the sun.
Suddenly I felt, the scared need to run.
I ran to the grass, to find a safe place to rest,
I laid myself down, and sighed from my chest.
Alone I lay, in this benighted field.
Although aghast, my emotions yield.
To feel alone, is to feel helpless,
All past nights, I've slept restless.
Wickedness is all that surrounds me.
Guilt and sorrow all but drowns me.
So here I lay, alone and impassive,
Staring up at God's vast masses.
In this place the sun never shows,
Only it's rim around the moon glows.
When out from the penumbra came a godly figure
Shot down to earth with thunderous vigor.
As I look zenith - Up toward the moon,
A seraphim - right by me they flew!
Five great angels, in front of me stood.
Each as appealing as I ever thought could.
They stood there calmly with a lurid glow.
My attraction to them I could not help but show.
I approached the five angels that stood with such splendor,
A light in my life, I thought they could render.
The first one I saw, was endowed with such beauty,
She stood their so calm, as if absent from duty.
The air that surrounded her was aromatic and assuring.
The light in her eyes, I found so alluring.
Dumbfounded I stood there, just watching and staring.
But my pounding heart
