I would have to say that there are very few books that I like enough to read more than once, and I do mean very few. This series of books was introduced to me by a friend while I was babysitting for him. There were some days that I did nothing but read so I could start the next book in the series.
I do not care much for the prequel, "Debt of Bones", it seems irrelevant to me to read a book after you have already been reading the main books of the series. I think they are an afterthought after the first books are published and the author thinks people need to be aware of certain history pertaining to the main plot of the story. I'm sorry, but he should of thought about that before the initial book was published. Other than the prequel, the rest of the books were amazing. I had read them all, with the exception to "Confessor", within a month of starting "Wizard's First Rule". I was addicted and had to finish the series, but then I had to wait 8 or 9 months for "Confessor" to become available. So I started to re-read them, except for "Debt of Bones'. The biggest down fall of Terry Goodkind's books is that he feels compelled to re-explain everyone's history in every book. That got pretty old after awhile. Even if he did this to catch people up, in case they have not read the previous books, people should not start a series with a book from the middle. After I knew the characters, I really did not what a complete rundown of their history in every book thereafter. I also noticed that his editor missed some mistakes or maybe it was the publisher where he got the books printed. I am not by any means a "Writer" and I really do not like my own writing, but I do notice small errors, these were mainly misspelled words or words that were missing a s' or ed' at the end, while I am reading.
All and all I really to lover this series, and thanks to my best good friend, I now have all of the books. Just last night I finished re-reading "Soul of the Fire". I do believe that this series is the main cause for my insomnia. I have read about a mini-series for television being made, and I can't say that I like it. When I read a book I imagine the characters in my mind in certain ways, and I think that Hollywood has a way of really fudging up good book. If they did it right, it might be good, but that rarely happens. Hollywood likes to add and delete certain aspects of the books that they feel need to be more or less dramatic for the audience. Of course, when it starts showing I will have to watch it to see if the characters and storyline go by the books, and then I will find out if it is worth watching. I just hope that a good production company gets it; I have seen so many television series and movies, based on good books, slaughter, due to bad production and bad actors.
As I said before, I highly recommend this series. I tell everyone that I know who likes to read, about these books. I plan on starting "Pillars of Creations" tonight. Looks like I will be up late, yet again reading.
