the OK Corral about a half-mile from the Bird Cage.
After uncovering this information about the crib, Wyatt Earp's statue was moved to the crib he used to rent while he was living, and the activity surrounding the statue ceased.
Hunley said the most amazing event that occurred in the theatre was about nine years ago, when a dice table weighing several hundred pounds was moved in front of the door that leads to the self guided tour of the theatre. "It had to have been levitated over the craps table," said Hunley. The dice table had been moved sometime during the previous night while the theatre was vacant. It took eight men to move the table back to its former position.
Once, in the basement, on the floor near a high-stakes poker table, after the floor had been swept clean, and the door had been locked for the night, a flawless cigar ash had been found the next morning. Next to the ash was a rare antique match that had been burned, coated with a unique lacquer designed to keep the match burning long enough to get a cigar going. It was the kind of match a high roller would have used back in the 1880s. These matches today are considered very valuable, and not something that would be burned and thrown away by any living person.
Hunley said that smells of cigar smoke flow through the building when no one has been smoking. The beautiful, coin-operated music box still plays music, and when opened for maintenance will sometimes inexplicably smell of cigar smoke.
Carol J. Anderson, an employee who greets visitors as they enter the Bird Cage, said that one morning she was near the entrance and heard a woman singing. "She was definitely here that morning, and I have never heard her again," said Anderson. The phantom female singer is another common paranormal event at the Bird Cage. Many have reported hearing her singing to old time music that is very loud, but the words of the song are unclear. This woman has been heard for over fifty years, but has never been seen.
Another female ghost also inhabits the Bird Cage, according to Cheryl Leavere. "The wine cellar in the basement is covered with iron bars and padlocked, but a woman in 1880s style clothing has been seen going into the wine cellar and then disappearing," said Leavere.
"Several people have also seen a man dressed in 1880s clothing, searching for his wife and looking very sad and confused," added Leavere. Many locals will tell you that the sound of old time music and laughter will draw you to the theatre at night,
