try to create secondary and third defence lines that act as a "delay" to the undead should they break in. for example, try tying rope/strings across from one side of the wall to the other, but try to make a criss-crossed pattern almost like a messy spider web. This is simple but effective as it takes less than half-hour to complete and may delay the undead by up to 5-10 minutes.
Weaponary and armor
You will need to arm yourself with any potential equipment or objects that can be used to inflict damage or possible death to the undead. Obvious options and cutlery, combat knives, guns if found, BB guns most likely, bow and arrows. However, if in need in making your own weapon from a array of generic stuff i.e. wooden blocks, bits of metal, furniture then try to construct your very own anti-zombie club/spear. Simply carve a club from a wooden pole/block then use anything sharp to nail into the top end of the club/spear i.e. nails, pins etc. Although this may not be the greatest personal defence wepaon, it is still better than nothing.
For armour, basically try to make your own piece of armor out of clothes or furniture. With clothes, wear as many cotton based clothes of the first layers, then wear thick or very hard leather coats. This will provide flexibility as well as few protection. With furniture, an example in constructing your own armour would be cutting and making two large "slabs" of wood, make two holes on either ends of the tops. Then attach leather strings from both slab holes. Then wear over your body, try to find appropriate leather string measurement for exact fitting.
Outside scavenging and searching
Only do this, if you have armour, a quick escape route, a weapon, and a friend for an extra eye. Only scavenge outside to explore the area around you, find food/weapons or to find survivors or maybe better hiding spots. In films you may have seen survivors using vehicles well my personal recommendation is don't bother. Unless you want to drive around a main street, with your car engine so loud, and your car so visible to every undead feel free to sign a death warrant. My recommendation is walk. With this simple method of transportation, you can explore every bit nook and cranny of any area, and you can sneak.
Before any scavenging task is commenced, try and at least scout the area from your vantage point of your safe house, or look a map and try to design your own routes/escape routes to your destination. Furthermore, if possible try and employ a small quick
