"Yes it is! I'm not able to practice the religion that I choose! I'm not able to watch whatever I want on Tv! I'm not able to ever speak out against my President! I know that by writing this article I'm going to have to watch out for unmarked black vans in my driveway wanting to take me away to the secret re-education camps! Help!"
Here we go again. People have been accusing the US of becoming a fascist state since...its inception? It all comes down to people not being happy that their favorite people not being in power. Right now, the folks that vote Democrat are annoyed that we have a Republican in power and he's making decisions that Democrats would never make. Around this time next year we'll probably have a Democrat in power and everyone that follows the Republicans will be critiquing his or her policies and demanding that he or she resign after every decision that he or she makes.
Before you go babbling on about how bad we have it in the US, take a good look at the rest of the world:
If you were living in Iran and you were a female you wouldn't exactly be able to run for President - or vote - or be able to walk around with your face uncovered. You would be PROPERTY of your husband and he can treat you like dirt. At the drop of a hat he could send a text message to your over the phone telling you that he's divorcing you and that would be it. You'd be alone, penniless, potentially homeless and in pretty bad shape. And you thought the "Glass Ceiling" was bad?
If you were living in North Korea you'd have a nice future waiting for you after high school. You'd be in the Army. While in the Army you would be lucky to get warm clothing, electricity, fresh water, or FOOD - and you'd be one of the lucky ones. Ever take a look at a satellite photo of North and South Korea at night? To the south you see the lights of beautiful cities and active place to live. To the north you'd see blackness. These people rarely have power of any kind. Nope, no place to plug in their PlayStation 3s or XBox 360s.
If you were living in the Gaza Strip you'd have to contend with two countries fighting over which one of them owns your neighborhood. Your opinions toward the folks in the other country would be irrelevant as you'd automatically be expected to hate them outright. If you're a Muslim don't even think of having Israeli friends - or vice versa. You're expected to despise the other with an almost homicidal instinct from birth.
I could go on about every other police state that REALLY exists in the world, but I'm pretty sure that by now you can see that the US isn't as much of a dictatorship as you think it's becoming.
