Poetry: Pain from love

You left me for another,
But I do not feel pain.
I feel nothing.
I am numb.
Standing in the snow
The wind blew against me.
But I do not feel the cold.
In the shower I stood,
The water ran down my body
And mingled with the tears on my face.
I cried.
But I feel no sadness.
I still feel nothing.
I searched.
I tried.
I wanted to feel again,
Anything, even pain.
I live my life,
My everyday normal life.

But nothing is normal.
People greet me,
They do not know.
I hide my tears from them,
Even though the tears are not from pain.
My eyes do not see you,
My hands do not touch you,
My ears do not hear your voice.
I am empty and void of feelings,
A shadow going through life.
In my closet I reached,
To choose an outfit to wear,
Going on with my life.
My hand brushed against a shirt,
Long forgotten by you,
As I have been.
I gently stroked the shirt,
Then I clutched it to me.
The sweet aroma of you reached my nose,
And I cried.
My heart fluttered again,
Inside me rose a feeling,
Deep and strong,
Was it hate?
No, I could never hate you.
It was love.
I will always love you.
I wonder, I hope,
You will come back to me.
But deep inside I know you never will.
But if you did,
I promise you,
I would take you back.
Because I know without you,
I do not live,
I do not feel,
I am not real.
I am a part of you, and you will never leave my heart.
